You’ve got questions and I (hopefully) have answers. Here’s a few of my most frequently asked questions as a Rexburg photographer. If you still have questions after reading this, don’t be afraid to contact me!

How do you photograph moments and events?
I love being by your side to capture all of your special moments. As a Rexburg photographer, all I want to capture is the feelings, the mood, the emotions, the calm and crazy moments and all the details that makes your story unique. That’s why I decided to photograph in both a traditional and non-traditional way.
If you love being in front of a camera, I’ll show you exactly how to pose.
If you’re camera shy, I’ve got something a little different for you. Instead of posing you, I give prompts. I found that prompts help people feel more relaxed and able to truly be themselves around me. This makes my sessions a special experience.
Where are you based and do you travel?
LaShay and Light Photography is based in Rexburg, Idaho but I love to travel! If you want me to photograph your story, it will require a travel fee, depending on where it takes place. But no worries, I always try to find the cheapest way to come because I love the way my creativity is developed when I discover new locations, cultures, and people. Message me to discuss what the fee would look like for your location.
When will we get our photos?
Every photoshoot is different. Some sessions result in more time to edit where as some don’t. With this in consideration, you will receive an online gallery link with all your photos within maximum 5 weeks (sometimes less depending on the season I photograph your story and your package). You can download all the photos from the gallery but also share them, choose your favorites, and also order prints!
How many pictures will we receive?
That depends on the package you choose! Check out my package lists if you aren’t sure which package you have. If your package says “full gallery” you’ll typically get around 60 photos per hour. I always choose quality rather than quantity and that’s why there is a range in how many photos you receive. I will choose the best and more significant photos to tell your story.
Some packages specifically state the number of photos you’ll receive. For this, I allow you to choose which photos you’d like to download. If you’d like to download more than what your package stated, you totally can! It’s only $3 per image.
Can you make me look better?
No. There’s nothing to change. You are beautiful. I won’t give you photoshop plastic surgery or anything else that takes away from your natural beauty. I hope that my photos can show you that you are art. It would be disgraceful for me to mess up such a masterpiece with editing.
Are the prices flexible?
I’m not cheap. A cheap Rexburg photographer cuts corners, edits poorly, and leaves you disappointed. That’s why my prices are the way they are. But I’ve tried my absolute best to make my price list varied. That way it’s suitable for varied budgets but doesn’t allow a drop in quality.
However, you and you’re photoshoot are unique. If you’re looking for a personalized and tailored photoshoot, I’m more than happy to send you my à la carte pricing sheet. Just contact me and I’ll send it over.

I try my best to be flexible with my prices and to accommodate. However, if the price is still too high, I am more than happy to recommend some other amazing photographers to you.
Why does your style change per shoot?
That’s an awesome question. The reason is because no photoshoot is the same. Whether it’s color, season, location, or mood, every photoshoot is unique. If I just pasted the same filters and edits on every photo, I would loose the magic and mood of those images. Some of my images are cool and some of them are warm. It just depends on the photoshoot and what I want to portray in those photos.
If you’re really dead set on a certain style you saw in one of my photos, let me know. I’ll try my best to recreate it but, like I said, every photo shoot is unique. Another style may be more flattering.

How do you photograph moments and events?

Instead of saying “slightly angle your hips towards me”, I’ll give you an action. This may be twirling, dancing, or even just thinking about puppies. This makes my sessions a special experience.
This is one of the reasons why I think my type photoshoots make an awesome date or a self-love session.
To summarize, I shoot according to you needs. If you’re camera shy: prompts. If you’re not camera shy: poses. Typically, I usually do a mixture of posing and prompts. It’s perfect for those who aren’t totally camera shy but also aren’t super confident in front of the camera.
SESSION TIP #1
Pinterest is your best friend. Search poses and photos you like and send them to me! I love to get a better idea of what you want.
SESSION TIP #2
You may feel silly doing a certain prompt or pose. Trust me, you don’t look silly.
