Found yourselves just watching Netflix or just eating out for your dates? Shake things up with these 10 fun date ideas in Gilbert!
As a wedding photographer, my life basically revolves around romance. Which means I’m your girl for this kind of thing! In this post, we’re going to focus on fun. If you enjoy adventure, laughs, and trying out new things, these date night ideas in Gilbert will be perfect for you! Make sure to check out number one, it’s my favorite!

10. Go to the Dog Park
I’m convinced that going to the dog park is one of the most underrated date ideas. It’s a great first date activity as it’s casual, free, and dogs are the best judge of character. My favorite dog park in Gilbert is Cosmo Dog Park. It has multiple fenced off areas for dogs including a lake for your pup to cool off at. After you tire out your dogs, head down to Joe’s Farm Grill. They have a dog friendly patio with amazing food that ranges from pizza, burgers, salad, to cheesecake, milkshakes, and apple fritters. To me, this is the perfect date idea.
9. Take a Cooking Class at Kneaders
Did you know that the Gilbert Kneaders hosts cooking classes? But if you’re not a big fan of cooking, don’t worry. They also provide taste testing classes. From decorating sugar cookies to soup contests, there’s really something for both sweet tooths and savory lovers. Please note that the website I linked above shows events at every Kneaders location. For the one in Gilbert, make sure you sign up for the one that says “Baseline” in the title!
8. Skate at AZ Ice
Tired of the Arizona heat? Skating at AZ Ice is a wonderful way to escape the heat. Not only that, it’s a great excuse to hold hands! AZ Ice has public skating nearly everyday. Not only that, AZ Ice is connected to Park Tavern and Market. Park Tavern has a happy hour, rotating specials, and mouth watering food like wings, hamburgers, and half-pound cookies. Go skate and end the date with some amazing food to warm you up!
7. Paint at Pinot’s Palette
This is one of my personal favorite date ideas in Gilbert. Pinot’s Palette has daily guided painting events. Don’t like the painting they’re doing today? They’ll be creating something different tomorrow! With every painting event, you get an included charcuterie board and you also have the option to purchase alcohol and make your own scented candle to bring home. And don’t worry if you’re not very artsy. All the lessons are beginner friendly and focus on fun. At the end of the night, you’ll be feeling like Picasso!
Here’s a tip. Swap paintings at the end of the night so you have something to remember each other by!
6. Dance together at Fred Astaire Dance Studio
Is there anything more romantic and fun than dancing with your special someone? Fred Astaire Dance Studio offers lessons and dance parties on a daily basis! They offer multiple types of dancing like country and swing. Check out their monthly events list to see if anything sparks your interest!
5. Walk the Riparian Preserve
This is a beautiful walk (and a beautiful place for couple photos) that isn’t intense. It’s a popular place for birdwatching and nature lovers. Best part about it? It’s free!
If you come on a Saturday, I recommend watching the sunset together and then heading over to the Gilbert Rotary Centennial Observatory to look at the stars through their telescopes. It’s a romantic and fun way to finish any date!
4. Rock Climb at Alta
If you’re wanting to get a good workout, go to Alta! They’re a rock climbing center that will fulfill all your adventuring needs. You can go any day but I recommend checking out their events. They have a monthly date night that has BOGO passes, a raffle, and couples yoga!
3. Stretch at a Goat Yoga class
You heard me right. Arizona Goat Yoga is one the most memorable date ideas in Gilbert. It’s perfect for animal lovers and health/fitness lovers. They’ve got specially trained goats for their classes that can snuggle, jump, and go under you. They host numerous classes and there’s sure to be one perfect for you two. Even if you’re not into yoga, they even host cow cuddling, sound baths, and an alpaca photo booth.
2. Enjoy a show at Hale Theater
Hale theater is one the most unique theaters I’ve ever been to! It’s a small stage with seats that completely surround it but no matter where you’re sitting, you’ll have a great view. The actors are wonderful and love to include the viewers. I’ve even seen them bring people out to dance with them on stage! Hale theater has a rotating show list so there’s always something to see. Not into theater? They also host concerts!
1. Do a Couples Photoshoot at LaShay and Light Wedding Photography
If you’re camera shy, this might sound stiff, nerve-wracking, or boring. But trust me, it’s anything but. As a photographer, I make sure that my couples’ photoshoots are fun! The experience is just as important as the photos you get afterwards. You can have just the photoshoot as your date and I’ll give you poses and fun prompts to follow or you can incorporate the photoshoot into other activities you want to do. Imagine this: setting up a date (it can really be anything from picnics and fairs to going on a hike) and bringing a photographer along! If you want to go with this route, I recommend a mini session (15 or 30 minutes). That way you’ll get a good amount of photos but you can also have some time just the two of you alone.
I genuinely believe that this is one of the best date ideas in Gilbert! You get to dress up and be all cute with your partner! Not only that, you get gorgeous photos afterwards, genuine moments captured for a lifetime. If you’re interested in a couples photoshoot, feel free to contact me! I’d love to help you make this the best date ever!
