Thinking about having a February Wedding? Here’s all the good and bad parts about getting married in this month.

Just got engaged and thinking about a February Wedding? Here’s a list of some pros and cons you may not have thought of. I’ve been an Idaho wedding photographer for 6 years and I’ve really gotten to see what every month has to offer. Of course some of these pros or cons may vary depending on where you’re having your wedding. For Southeast Idaho, expect a lot of wind and bitter cold at a February wedding!

Pros

February weddings are so special! It’s the month of romance; talk about the perfect time to get married!

  • Over the Big Holidays: Unlike January, there’s a lot less holiday fatigue in February which means more enthusiastic guests.
  • Cozy Venues: Winter brings a sense of warmth and romance that’s underrated. There are some venues that really shine in the winter like LaBelle Lake with their cabin interior.
  • Engaged during Gifting Season: Get more wedding gifts by being engaged during Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
  • Won’t be Hot: Don’t have to worry about the wedding cake’s icing melting, flowers wilting, or bugs.
  • Your choice of Vendors: Venues and vendors tend to have a lot of more availability and sometimes offer reduced prices.

Cons

Weather can still be super cold, but we typically see less -40 degree weather than we do in January. But this certainly doesn’t mean you should have an outdoor wedding; it’ll still be cold.

  • Hazardous Weather Conditions: Icy roads and snowstorms can be dangerous for you and your guests to travel.
  • Too Cold for Photos: Could be too cold to take photos outside. The majority of your images would be indoors, with only a few being outside (weather permitting).
  • Closed Venues: Some venues are seasonal and are closed in the winter.
  • Expensive Florals: With everyone getting bouquets for Valentines day, flowers may be harder to get and more expensive. But there are some beautiful floral options for a February wedding.
  • Cold and Flu Season: Although being at the end of cold and flu season, many still find themselves sick during this season.

Conclusion

I hope this helps you with your wedding planning! I know that it can be stressful but trust me on this: no matter what month you choose to get married in, it’ll be beautiful.
